Sitting in my crafty stash was a set of 3 small wooden houses that I though would make wonderful shelf sitters for the festive season. To make these I added a rich red paint to the blocks, one component crackle and then cream white apaint over the surface to give an interesting but pale surface onto which I could apply my rice paper images allowing their true colours to show. I chose AA-HO- 10 as this has lots of small images and applied one image to the front and back of the houses so that they would look good no matter which direction they were viewd.
To ground the rice paper images I added a piece of lace followed by natural elements and paper elements from the paper strips AA -Ho- 09, 03, and 04 and also elements from AA - ho -10 the 6 x 12 xtras fussy cutting elements pack.
I felt the top of the houses looked a little bare so then added more natural elements and paper pieces to the roof areas. Once I was happy with all of the elements I gently drybrushed some of the cream white paint over to link the embellishments to the background.
Whilst I had all of the paper elements cut out I decided that I would alter a small metal tin to sit with the houses. The tin was lined with papers from AA-10 - 08 before adding layers of paper pieces creating a scene on the top and inside of the box. To finish the tin I used snow paste around the edge being careful not to obsturct the closure of the tin.
I am really pleased with how this Christmas Decoration set ended up looking and I am sure it will look cute on a coffee table or a mantel piece over the festive season
