The soft hues of the rice paper AA-PR-S-04 along with the cute animal images inspired me to alter a MDF kit with multiple comparments.
I decided to work with the very pretty turquoise/sea green colours in the Happy time paper collection AA-HT-08.
After painting the mdf with white gesso and then a pale green blue chalky paint paper pieces were applied to two sides and the base of the container.
For the remaining sides I added the rice paper animal images with decoupage glue and then filled the cavities in the holder with 3D Varnish.
To add more details to the piece I added some wood trim and also some moulds also painted with the chalky paint. Next white wax was applied over the entire piece, wiping it back of the images and leaving it in the depths to create a shabby effect.
Finally a little white gold wax was applied to the tops of the comparments and the mouldings.
This piece will sit on my craft desk so that I can store my pens, pencils brushes and ball tools all within easy reach but I think there are lots of other possibilities as it would look good ina bathroom or a childrens room.
