I decided that I needed a small bowl to put treats for anyone who called trick or treating, but also one that could be used for display throughout the autumn season and so the idea of this project formed in my mind.
I took a samll square glass vase and primed it with bondingprimer before painting with shades of brown and ochre as these colours are in the rice paper I had chosen to work with. Once the paint had dried I used one component crackle and then after drying a layer of ivory paint. I chose 4 images from AA-IAC-RP-01 and watercut these from the panel before applying one image to each side of the pot using decoupage glue and varnish.
Next I made lots of leaves from air dry clay and once dry painted these in autumnal colours. The leaves were applied around the pot linking the images with a continuous border of leaves. I then added some more leaves so that thy creatures look as if they are in a forest with the leaves falling.
Finally for the inside of the pot I added texture with a thick uneven layer of black gesso, then gold deluxe paste and finally a layer of ivory dry brushing to bring out all of the textures.
This was a super fun and quite easy piece to make so I do hope it inspires you to make something similar
